SARSAS is an independent, registered nonprofit, non-governmental organization, whose goal is to work collaboratively and cooperatively to modify the twelve man-made barriers on the Auburn Ravine, making them passable for fishes. This undertaking will take much time, effort, coordination and money, but it will have a permanent, lasting effect on the quality of the lives of those in this area and on the participants who will achieve something unique. We have an opportunity to create something no other town in California has: an anadromous fish run with salmon spawning in the center of the city.

Saturday and Sunday, May 9th & 10th 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
We invite you to live the romance and adventure of the Cain’s Crossing Renaissance Faire amidst a bustling 16th century Elizabethan village and marketplace as we celebrate our 3rd wondrous year of a most rollicking festival filled with artisans, swordsmen, privateers, guilds and entertainers. Step onto the Shire of Cain’s Crossing and be welcomed by hundreds of colorfully costumed merriemakers, musicians, artisans, swordfighters and even Queen Elizabeth. Characters such as Sir Francis Drake, William Shakespeare, Queen Elizabeth and her glittering court, privateers, rogues and wenches come to life and engage the guests in banter, gossip and spirited play. Make way for the royal procession, lest you lose your head to the Queen's Royal Guards. Barter with a merchant for fyne crafted wares. Indulge your appetite with succulent meats, vegetables and fruits washed down by hearty ale or brew. Stroll through majestic lanes of this village of yore amidst the many historical guilds, multiple stages of entertainment, and scores of artisans demonstrating and selling their period crafts. This event is co-sponsored by the Auburn Recreation District and the Auburn Education Foundation. In addition to providing an educational experience, proceeds from this marvelous affair will directly benefit local students.

At the Community Festival we feature quality live music, giant pumpkin and scarecrow contests, arts and crafts booths showcasing local artisans and a costume contest and parade for young and old alike.
There are carnival games and pony rides for kids, food and vendor booths hosted by local nonprofits and Auburn’s own Sugar Plump Fairies are out in friendly force.
We produce a day of wholesome activities that cater to the entire family. And it’s free, thanks to our generous sponsors. A volunteer committee works all year long to put on this unique event that is designed just for fun.
